BOSTON, MA, December 14, 2009 – A seasoned financial product and technology leader, Martin Cowley has joined LifeYield, LLC as Executive Vice President, Product Development, LifeYield announced today. Mr. Cowley will be responsible for spearheading the product roadmap for LifeYield’s groundbreaking transactional unified managed household (UMH) software solution, LifeYield ROI™.

LifeYield ROI suggests the most tax efficient trades to grow and withdraw assets across an entire household, including all taxable and tax advantaged accounts, while automating many time consuming tasks and maintaining desired asset allocations. Ernst & Young’s independent research found that LifeYield ROI can produce up to 20% more after tax income throughout a retirement period.

“Martin worked with much of the LifeYield management team when we ran Upstream Technologies before selling that firm to CheckFree,” said Mark Hoffman, CEO and Co-founder of LifeYield. “His deep domain experience with trade generation technologies and excellence in understanding the needs of clients makes him ideal for our senior product development and management role. Martin embodies LifeYield’s commitment to providing our customers with the best service and financial technology available anywhere.”

“I am thrilled to be joining up with the LifeYield team again,” said Mr. Cowley. “They have a proven track record of delivering new and innovative technology and I am excited to be a part of that.”

Formerly, Mr. Cowley was EVP, Software Engineering and Chief Technology Officer at Upstream Technologies, responsible for the technology and product management of Upstream’s portfolio management and trading solutions. After the sale of Upstream to CheckFree Investment Services (now Fiserv) in 2007, Mr. Cowley led the development of Upstream products as VP of Software Development for Advanced Trading Solutions, overseeing the integration of those systems with Fiserv’s industry-leading APL portfolio accounting and trading system. He also helped define Fiserv’s future technology and product direction for its trading solutions. His role at Fiserv later expanded to cover the development of Fiserv Investment Services’ corporate actions, trade settlement and fee billing systems.

Before joining Upstream, Mr. Cowley was Lead Technical Architect for AIT Group (now Portrait Software), a provider of web-based CRM software to the financial services industry, where he developed software solutions for Barclays and Key Bank, among others. Prior to AIT, Mr. Cowley’s consulting, management and programming roles included positions with Logica and Aviva in the United Kingdom. Mr. Cowley holds a B.Sc. in Computer Systems Engineering and a M.Sc. in Computing Science, both from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK.
